M.A.N.D.A.T.E. Records Inc. is a record label with a wide range of industry services including marketing & promotions, artists booking & management and event production. The founders of M.A.N.D.A.T.E. Records are Christians who have sought to expand their relativity in the music industry by stepping out on faith to produce artists and music that share the same goals for change in the world of music.

Records team’s shared belief in Jesus Christ and strategizing pursuit to go beyond the restrictions of tradition, have paved the way for the record label brand to lend its contribution to the ever-changing sound of music. M.A.N.D.A.T.E. is an acronym that perfectly represents the vision and purpose for the company’s existence, “Making A Necessary Difference At The End” is the goal after every project, event, production and collaboration. Although its primary function as a record label has sought to develop and produce artists with a life-changing message, the organization is not limited to Christian music. M.A.N.D.A.T.E. has also recently explored the vast musical world of Jazz by producing Jazz music festivals and artists. Believing to be the change they want to see in today’s world, M.A.N.D.A.T.E. creates, innovates and motivates the trailblazers of today and tomorrow to not just talk about change, but be the change they desire to see.
President & CEO
Dr. Leonard J. Thompson III has been in the music industry for over 35 years, first as a musician and later as a record label executive, promoter and manager. Dr. Thompson’s love for music was birthed in the church and developed by multi-cultural experiences. His passion for music with positive lyrics and life-changing messages fuels his vision to think outside the box of the entertainment industry to help artists develop their own unique sound.
In 1995 Dr. Thompson founded M.A.N.D.A.T.E. Records Inc., a Christian-owned and operated record label. Since that time, M.A.N.D.A.T.E. Records Inc. has grown from a small home-based business to one of Southern California’s premier labels. Although considered a grassroots company, M.A.N.D.A.T.E. Records has made a tremendous impact on the Christian and Jazz music communities, representing that Southern California style with that Diego groove.
While under his direction, M.A.N.D.A.T.E. Records is recognized for successfully producing, The San Diego Praise Fest, San Diego County Fair Gospel Fest, Street Scene Gospel Slamm, The Fishhook, The G.R.I.D.I.R.O.N. Tour, The Genesis Tour, The Sisters For Souls Tour, Rock the Block Tour, Jazz At the Creek Concert Series, Bayside Gospel Concert Aboard the USS Midway, and many other concert style events. These events were designed to mobilize neighboring communities, cities and states and cause them to identify and help meet the needs of the people who live in them.
The record label is also instrumental in bringing gospel radio programming to the city of San Diego. With over 40 recorded projects to its credit, M.A.N.D.A.T.E. Records has remained an artist friendly company not only to its own artists but also to those seeking an independent career in music. M.A.N.D.A.T.E. Records has restructured in order to better serve its artists in the area of artist development and therefore prepare them for worldwide exposure.
Dr. Thompson holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Master’s Degree in Education, Honorary Doctorate in Theology and is Ordained as an Elder in the Church of God In Christ.
Senior Vice President
Michelle R. Thompson has been in the music industry for over 25 years starting out as a songwriter and recording artist under the name Evangel. She soon branched into the business side becoming a record label owner with a growing interest in artist development and radio programming. When presented with these roles she invested her time and talent into creating opportunities for other artists to advance their music ministries on multiple platforms. Michelle, commonly recognized as Evangel, is currently a radio personality and the Program Director for Godradio1.com. She has continued to remain true to the label’s mantra and acronym of its name M.A.N.D.A.T.E. (Making A Necessary Difference At The End).
Vice President, Operations
Specializing in business development, Ms. Bauer has a wealth of experience required to run a creative operation. She is truly a leader in financial management, business contracts, program development, organizational structuring and grant writing. Throughout her career, she has been an advisor, partner and advocate of the arts, with music in the forefront. Her ability to multitask allows her to function in several areas of the company. As Vice President, Operations, Ms. Bauer is positioned to have a major impact in the future growth of the M.A.N.D.A.T.E. Records brand.
Executive Vice President, Jazz
Sandrea L. Jackson, Executive Vice President of the Jazz Division of M.A.N.D.A.T.E. Records, brings many years of management experience in the sports and entertainment sectors. In her role at M.A.N.D.A.T.E., she is responsible for the Jazz imprint of the label along with artist development – working in tandem with the label’s President and executive team, and the production of the annual Jazz at the Creek music festival. She is a member of the Recording Academy (GRAMMYS) and the Screen Actors Guild. (SAG/AFTRA).
Ms. Terri L. Fowler brings years of multimedia experience to the team at M.A.N.D.A.T.E. Records Inc. Terri’s strategic plan is to put the label and its artists on the lips of everyone who loves Gospel and Jazz music by leveraging personal and professional contacts in television, print, radio and internet mediums. Her work experiences includes columnist, public relations, graphic and website designer, special events and multimedia coordinator. Ms. Fowler plans to make the music industry take notice of this label with strategic placement of promotional materials, artist appearances and performances.
Director of Radio Promotions
Robert E. Dean joins the M.A.N.D.A.T.E. Records team with over 30 years of experience in promotions and a stint in artist management. He is also a veteran singer, songwriter and choir director who has seeded much of his time and talent into helping others progress and live out their dreams in the gospel music industry. As Director of Radio Programming, Dean’s vision encompasses establishing the growth, connection and outreach necessary to create advancement opportunities for the artists and their music. His strategies are ground-breaking enabling the artists to create a global footprint with their music recognized, accessible and promoted on every medium and platform in radio.
Sales & Merchandising Manager
With over 10 years in the Marketing Industry, Mrs. Williams comes with a wealth of knowledge on brand development. Her unique sense of style, trends and product forecasting keeps her on the cutting edge of the industry. Mrs. William’s sole objective is to expand the M.A.N.D.A.T.E Records brand and impact the national and international consumer markets causing the label’s product line and more to be essential around the world.
Kristel Mingo-Williams has been in the entertainment industry for over 15 years, first as a singer and dancer, and later focused on music production, multi-media management, promoting, event production, teaching and artist management. Kristel loves being a part of the artist relations department. It allows her to pour back into other artists who are passionate about their craft and want to pursue their dream in the music industry. Kristel holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Management.
A M.A.N.D.A.T.E. team member since 1999, Ms. Harvey has over eleven years of experience in the music industry. Her diverse background in training, finance and artist relations make her a valuable member of the team. Ms. Harvey is passionate about music and desires to help spread the message of the Gospel through music. Harvey’s organizational and communication skills are a valued asset in her position as Executive Manager and as a company liaison to the President & CEO.
Radio Host and Emcee
Walter Ko comes to the M.A.N.D.A.T.E. Records family with over 10 years of experience in radio broadcasting and concert promotions. He was born in New York City but raised on the sunny coast of southern California in Los Angeles. Walter grew up with a love and passion for Hip Hop and R&B music which he calls the soundtrack of his life. Walter had a local DJ he loved listening to on the radio who in turn would help to fuel his passion to pursue DJ-ing and radio hosting. His journey in radio broadcasting started back in 2009 with an opportunity to join an on-air mentor and from there more opportunities opened up to host his very own radio shows. Walter is currently one of the radio hosts on Gospel On Demand Radio and Godradio1.com and he serves as head pastor of 3XL Church in San Diego.
Radio Account Executive/Special Events
Adele G. Williams began her relationship with M.A.N.D.A.T.E. Records over 20 years ago as a backup vocalist for one of the label’s artist. She also began rendering her iconic voice on various studio recorded projects for other artists not signed to the label. Over the years she has transitioned into other roles taking on the position of stage manager for special events and becoming the Accounts Executive for Godradio1.com. Mrs. Williams holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and a Master of Arts in Organizational Management with an Emphasis in Leadership and has also added a Paralegal Certification in Business Litigation. These tools and others are just a few of the valuable assets she brings to the M.A.N.D.A.T.E. Records’ family.
Shan Brown is a producer, script writer, cameraman, and editor in video. Upon attaining a BA in Television and Film, Mr. Brown started at M.A.N.D.A.T.E. Records as a video production intern and then rose to the position as a Multimedia Producer. With over 10 years of video production and post-production experience, Shan has produced music videos, video promotions, TV commercials, and motion graphics. With a strong and enthusiastic imagination, Shan has no limits to his creativity.
Catherine Casillas – is a native of San Diego with an immense passion in creative arts and is currently putting it to use in her music ministry as well as filmmaking, photography, radio engineering and social media marketing. Majoring in Recording Arts and Business, Catherine is engaging her skills alongside the Creative Director of M.A.N.D.A.T.E. Records Inc. and is continuing to forge ahead revealing God’s direction over her life in the music industry.
William Jones is a native of Louisiana with a love for cooking, music and photography. After migrating to California he aligned himself with organizations that could use his eye as a photographer, and soon what began as a hobby to share with friends and family developed into a passion and marketable profession. He uses his creative eye to capture “the moment” for artists on the M.A.N.D.A.T.E. roster as an event and portrait photographer at the varied venues and productions coordinated by the record label throughout the year.
Mrs. Wynn has been in the Hospitality field for over 30 years and is widely recognized for her warm and friendly mother-like qualities which have earned her the nickname “Mama Bear”. Genel’s kind and hospitable way are what most remember after encountering her at public and private events. She makes it a point to see that everyone is properly fed and hydrated and will go out of her way to accommodate those with special needs. Mrs.Wynn’s experience in food and guest services has proven to be a true asset to the M.A.N.D.A.T.E. Records family in leaving a warm and blessed impression on those who benefit from her department and feel as if they have found a home away from home.
Charles Hill is a masterful singer, songwriter and composer from Tacoma, Washington who relocated to California in the late 90’s. His relationship with the label spans over 3 decades with him initially coming aboard as a stand-in musician who also lent his voice for background work on various projects. His dynamic and soulful tone as a singer eventually landed him a recording deal and gave light to his worshipful yet eclectic songwriting skills as an artist. As life changed his roles changed eventually sparking a decision to focus solely on his family while still managing to write, compose, direct and produce for other artists. Hill’s experience in the music industry made him a perfect fit for the M.A.N.D.A.T.E. Records production and artist development team. As he trains and develops the skill set of the next generation, he faithfully serves as Director of Music and Lead Worshipper in his local church.
Reginald comes to M.A.N.D.A.T.E. Records Inc., with over 20 years of musical experience. As a creative songwriter, musician and producer Reginald’s style is admired and oftentimes imitated by those who study his signature and creativity. Reginald is bold and daring with his musical taste and abilities to blend various cultural styles of music infectiously. He skill is recognized by many and has made him a sought after influence by many in the industry. Mr. Williams vision is to use his music to speak into the hearts of true music lovers who live by it, learn by it and love by it.
